Chair: Ana Aires Carpinteiro

Director Business Development, Nexus for Development

Ana is responsible for the partnerships and communications teams at Nexus, leading the work on international business development and sales of the carbon credits portfolio. The team supports corporates in addressing climate-change impacts and development challenges, whilst driving funding to low-carbon development projects and social enterprises.

Before joining Nexus, Ana worked as a sustainability consultant and a project manager, helping businesses become more efficient and competitive by making smart sustainable choices. She has worked in environmental sustainability all her career, both in the private and public sectors, as well as with not-for-profit organisations. She is a specialist in stakeholder engagement and project delivery in environmental sustainability expert fields, with a multidisciplinary approach to environmental performance.

Within the environmental field, Ana has worked in policy research and implementation, awareness-raising, sustainability strategy and business consultancy for organisations including the City of Westminster, Forum for the Future and the International Living Future Institute. She holds a BA from Kingston University in London and an Msc from the University of London.

She is a keen hiker and scuba-diver and has lived in Asia for the past 3 years.

Chair: Gérald Maradan

Co-founder and CEO of EcoAct Group

Gérald created EcoAct Group in 2005, and is also is the co-founder of the NGO Entrepreneurs for Life, which supports innovative social entrepreneurs with the aim of reducing poverty. He has coordinated more than 100 consulting missions, and participated in the development of more than 25 carbon offsetting programs (biomass, wind, methanisation, hydroelectricity, heat recovery, energy efficiency, REDD+). 

Gérald also worked for STMicroelectronics, which is one of the worlds leaders in new technologies. He was responsible for the development of environmental programs, and was involved in 1996, in the world's first large-scale carbon neutrality experiment. He has since accompanied many groups in implementing their carbon neutrality policies. Gérald was also Co-Chair of ICROA in 2013 & 2014.

Physicist and engineer by training (he holds an engineering degree from INPG - Grenoble Institute of Technology -  and a MRes in Physics from INP Toulouse), he also received an MBA from HEC Paris. Gérald has been a lecturer at the University of Paris Sorbonne, and is a regular speaker at international conferences.

Programme Director: Antoine Diemert

ICROA Secretariat

Antoine joined ICROA in April 2017. He has a background in corporate finance and worked as an analyst at Kepler Cheuvreux in Geneva before joining ICROA. In this role he originated and executed mandates in the following fields: mergers & acquisitions, debt capital markets, equity capital markets. He previously worked for the UniCredit Group in Vienna and Paris where he helped set up a partnership with French asset manager Amundi and assisted Senior Bankers in their mandates with European corporates. Antoine holds a Master of Finance from ESSCA, France. In 2016 he obtained a certificate in climate and renewable energy finance from the Frankfurt School - UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance.

IETA Associate: Sophy Greenhalgh

International Director - REDD+, Aviation & Voluntary Markets

Sophy has over 10 years experience in climate change, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. She has worked as a consultant and project manager for the private sector, Department of Food and Rural Affairs and the EU commission, covering a variety of large scale climate and sustainability projects. Previously Sophy managed UK government's programme for resource efficiency in London. She has also been lead developer and author for a number of local and regional government climate change strategies. Sophy holds a BSc in Geology and Geography and post grad in Environmental Management.

Sophy is currently on maternity leave.
